Mid to late 19th Century Oil Painting by Luigi del Bueno. The followind details provided by prominent International Valuers and Auctioneers. The painting is copied from the ancient Roman murals at Herculaneum and Pompeii, which were excavated from the 1760s onwards. The artist appears to have been called Luigi del Buono , and is likely to have been one of the Artists operating from small workshops. The subject is painted on stiff card and in very good condition.
It would seem that a clear lacquer has been applied overall. Would appear to be constructed of wood with an alabaster coating with a plywood backing (split) to the painting mount. As will be noted from the. Photographs the gilting on the frame is substantially worn and the alabaster is chipped in places.
On the reverse of the painting are several pencil notations (the language I believe is Italian), it would seem of some age, and are difficult to decipher. Size of painting 121/4" x 93/4" (31x25cm).
Size overall frame 151/2" x 131/2" (39 x 34cm). Please refer to photographs, description and details to ensure familiarity of the item offered for sale. If on the rare occasion.
