An ancient Egyptian Pre-Dynastic squat terracotta jar with string hole lug handles. Rim chipped but otherwise intact. Vases of this early period were often made out of various types of stone, later terracotta jars were painted with designs to represent the material from which early vases would have been made. The holes in the handles were used to suspend the vase.
