A scene depicting slave boats on the Nile near to the Pyramids of Dashur by David Roberts. The drawings and watercolours from this tour of the Holy Land and Egypt were collated together into folios and released over a seven year period by the publisher F. Moon from 20 Threadneedle Street London. This lithograph is a First Edition version from 1846. Medium: Original First Edition Lithograph completed by Louis Haghe, full-plate, tinted and hand-coloured on thick woven paper.

Inscribed on lithograph lower left,'View on the Nile looking towards the Pyramids of Dashour & Saccara', 32 x 48 cm, mounted. He is particularly remembered for his Holy Land and Egyptian works but also painted many other landscapes and Church interiors. Roberts started as a scene painter and at one point worked alongside his friend Clarkson Stanfield at Drury Lane in the 1820s. His lithographs are still highly collected today and fetch very high prices. Dowle Fine Art specialises in British watercolours and drawings from the 18th and 19th centuries.
