Here is an Absolutely Beautiful & Rare Large Antique/Vintage Circa the Late 1910s-early 1920s Collotype Chromolithograph titled An Ancient Citadel, by the artist David Malcolm British, 19th-20th C. , whose printed signature appears lower right in the image area. The title and artists name appears printed lower middle in the outer margin area. We currently have 3 other Collotype Prints from this large series by Malcolm listed, so please have a look! As appears printed lower right respectively. More can be read below in the brief company bio for Landeker & Brown, Ltd. The Chromolitho is on a nice medium-heavier off-white wove stock and is in Excellent Rare+ condition for its vintage age with Absolutely No Color Fade! Its as good as any collector could hope to find in its original never-framed condition. The size with margins is 19-5/8 x 28.25, Image size is 15-1/8 x 23. There are only three very tiny & completely negligible outer margin edge tears (less than 1/8 each) that are repaired from behind with archival tape for protection, and arent even worth mentioning since the outer margins can easily be matted & framed out. Minimal extremely small & slight crescent-creases here & there in the image area which arent too noticeable (except from the back) and certainly dont detract from the image at all. There is also other slight small creasing here & there in the outer margin areas, along the outer margin edges and small dog-ear creases in the outer margin cornersall of which are completely negligible as well. Some outer margin edge wear with some dents & dings here & there, and a little outer margin area surface paper loss (like tape was stuck to it) in the upper right corneralso negligible. Minimal toning of the stock from age (not noticeable at all in image area). Extremely minimal slight topical soiling from age (lightly grubby) and from being in a drawer this whole time amongst other prints & lithos, and is only noticeable in the outer margin areas which are negligible anyway. One or two slight tiny surface paper nicks here & there in the image area which are hardly noticeable and I almost overlooked them quite easily. This beautiful Collotype Chromolithograph has never been framed which is always more desirable to collectors since it has never been exposed to older non-archival materials, matburn or lightfade.
They published postcards & fine art prints in series in a variety of different subjects & genres using halftone lithography and also a collotype chromolithographic process for their artwork reproductions. They often used German, Austrian or Bavarian printers for their works. They also operated early on (c1899-c1907) with an additional name in their title listed as Landeker, Lee & Brown. By the summer of 1953 the company went into receivership and was fully liquidated around the summer of that following year.
